Refined sugar is not a food since it does not contain nutrients, it is simply an additive that can enhance the flavor of our food. This additive is associated with diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart problems, liver problems, etc. The foods that contain it are addictive and are those that normally have the most calories.
Few people are able to control their glucose intake despite careful food selection, because sugar is also contained in salty foods.
To have a healthy life, among other things, we must be careful with the amount of sugar we introduce into our body. Excessive consumption weakens our health. The foods you least expect contain glucose. Here is a small table with some of the foods we eat regularly and their sugar content:
- 100 grams of ketchup contains 23 to 25 grams of sugar
- 100 grams of sauce to complement the meal is equivalent to 6 grams of sugar
- Yogurt with fruit contains up to 100 grams of sugar
- Apple juice contains 50 grams of sugar
One way to replace sugar is by using honey, or with stevia which is a natural sweetener that is recommended for diabetics. There is also whole sugar that has undergone another process to remove impurities. Products with a high sugar content are a poison for our body.
